PIECES II - "Blah"

ABOUT THIS PIECE

Blah began as a portrait I made while experimenting with color. I wasn’t fully confident in it, and when I posted it online, it became the first painting that received negative comments. It hit harder than I expected, especially because the critique pointed at something I already struggled with. I stopped posting for a while after that.

A year later, while working on my PIECES collection, I found the painting again. I still loved her face, so I cut the circle out, stitched it onto a new surface, and turned all that noise into part of the artwork instead of something I hid.

The “blah blah blah” in her ponytail represents that criticism. It’s still there, part of her story, but behind her now.
